$

Hello! I'm a huge fan of Creative Market and Design Cuts. Both of these sites are my online resource for pretty fonts, watercolor splotches, stock images, and other design goodies.

I always look forward every Monday to open the Creative Market site so I can download the freebies of the week and I also very anxiously anticipate the monthly big bundle.

This month's big bundle does not disappoint to tell you quite frankly. I didn't hesitate one bit when I saw what the contents of the bundle was. I mean who would not want 97% discount yeah? This monthly bundle costs $1,628 but you only pay $39. Clap clap clap! This is definitely an early Christmas treat.

Here are a few of what's in store for your if you purchase the bundle:

I am so excited to download this bundle and start working on projects. I usually post my projects in my Instagram.

LET ME TAKE YOU TO DENMARK

This is a super late post.

It's been almost two months since we arrived home from Denmark. It's the longest I have been out of the country so far and arguably the best vacation I have ever had. We've also made time to go to Sweden and Germany and I will write a separate blog post for our time there. I love Denmark and I shared about the 10 things I love about Denmark here.

We really enjoyed our family vacation and we can't wait to go back. I actually foresee several more trips in the future and we might even live there when Summer starts school so she can learn Dansk. We have not really cemented any plans yet. It's almost a guarantee though because my husband's family lives there and our little one is a Danish passport holder. I've personally considered living there but I won't know if I can manage uprooting myself from the Philippines completely while the hubby works overseas most of the time. I guess my fear stems from the fact that I do not know how to speak the language yet.

This photo was taken outside the Frederiksborg Castle. Frederiksborg Castle is situated in Hillerød, north of Copenhagen. It is where we lived most of our vacation time. The castle is renaissance style and was built in the early 17th century by the legendary Danish King Christian IV. The craftsmanship is truly impressive. You can tour the Museum of National History as well as the undeniably beautiful church inside the castle for only DKK90 (adults).

We spent most of our time visiting family, hiking the forests around lakes and enjoying the Danish outdoors, stuffing myself silly with Danish food (fresh produce are always the best), among others. I have also enjoyed our road trips so much.

We left Denmark just around the time when the leaves were turning. I loved how the autumn colors started blanketing gardens and trees. This year, autumn was a quick show because it already started snowing a couple of weeks ago. Oh Mother Nature, you are such a tease!

This photo was taken a few days before our vacation ended - from one of our last hikes.

Autumn crocus started appearing in the gardens. I actually initially didn't know that crocus has a variety that grows during autumn. I actually thought that nature has gone awry when I saw this bunch because I thought they only come out in the spring but I was wrong.

Blåvand Strand - the wind was perfect for kite flying seems like. I didn't want to try because I felt like the kite will carry me away.

Yes, it was also very chilly.

This photo was taken around 8PM and the sun was just setting.

Another day, another basket full of beautiful stones and shells.

We loved walking along the shore.

These are bunker horses between Blåvand and Skallingen in Jutland. These were used during World War II.

Kultorvet in Copenhagen. This is one of my favorite spots near Strøget - a perfect place to rest tired legs/feet after a day of shopping. I just love the vibe here and my favorite thing to do here aside from rest is to people watch.

Hermitage Hunting Lodge inside the Deer Park. This building was built by architect Lauritz de Thurah in Baroque style during King Christian VI's reign. The castle is only open for guided tours.

Pretty bicycles. I want one for myself.

I scream for ice cream. Even if the weather wasn't perfect for eating ice cream, I still had one every chance I get. Hahaha! I love Danish "soft is" - a little bit expensive at DKK20-30 for a medium serve but it's worth every kroner I guess.

By the Esrum Sø (Lake).

It's amazing how clear the water is. I wish lakes in the Philippines look like this as well.

A quaint outdoor cafe just outside the Fredensborg Castle. Danes love to stay outside and enjoy the sunshine.

Roses near the Frederiksborg Castle on the way to the town square. The rose bushes were so tall they were almost taller than the trees in the area.

Lake kayaking or canoeing in Esrum Sø.

I hope you enjoy the photos I included in this blog post. I have yet to organize the rest of the photos I took and I hope I can find time to write another blog post about our trip to Sweden and Germany as well.

FRIDAY'S 10 HAPPY THINGS 23

Welcome to another round of Friday's 10 Happy Things where I jot down ten things that made me happy this week. Keeping this list gets easier every week. I'm sorry for not publishing my list last week as I felt so lethargic and all I did was to sleep, do some household chores, play with Summer and back to sleep again. I'm still trying to get back into the rhythm and hopefully regain my energy once again.

Click the image below this blog post if you wanna join us spread happy cheers all around.
“Remember that the happiest people are not those getting more, but those giving more. ”
-H. Jackson Brown Jr.

Here's my happy things this week:

1.   I  won 3 out of the 4 blog contests I joined - that means I now have extra Php10,000 shopping money from SM Supermalls, 200 capsules of Fern-C Vitamin C (that's almost 6 months supply yay!), and my Belkin wishlist. I am still waiting for the result of the 4th contest I joined. The mechanics stated that the result should have been announced last November 30 but until now the company who sponsored the contest is still silent about it. Let's see if I am lucky enough to win that too.

2.   I brought Summer to her pedia for her 10th month regular check-up and I am glad to say that she's still a well baby. OMG! She's now 70 centimetres tall. That's more than a third of my height!

3.   Finally done with all the name wreath orders to date. I really enjoy creating these floral name wreaths for my Instagram friends and followers. If you want one for yourself as well, please let me know.

4.   We've finally decided on the theme for Summer's first birthday. It'll be in a little less than 2 months. Pretty exciting! We decided to have a hula party for our little girl. Yay!

5.   My organic products business is heaven sent. I get to earn while sharing my love for organic bath and beauty products. My heart overflows with gratitude especially to my repeat clients. By the way, my shop offers free shipping (with minimum order requirement anywhere in the Philippines) until the end of the month. I might extend it based on our December sales. Let's see! Please visit my Instagram page for my shop - http://instagram.com/excellentorganics

6.   I was able to watch the live streaming of the Miss Universe preliminary show. Yeah, it's one of my guilty pleasures. I'm rooting for Dominican Republic, Colombia and Peru to win the crown this year. I'm certain too that Philippines will be part of the finalists.
    7.   Churros from Don Churro. I know I raved about the churros from Army Navy the last time I published my happy things but this little store I found in Cash and Carry sells legit churros. I can eat 15 pieces in one seating. It's that delicious especially paired with their yummy dulce de leche dip. Oh and yes, the flour mix they use is from Spain so you can be sure that the taste is really authentic.

    8.   Summer's naughty antics. I know I shouldn't tolerate it but I don't think she means it when she would blow bubbles when you get close to her face. She would then giggle and even do it with feelings - shoulders moving up and down and eyes almost close and nose crinkled. I think she's just amused with the sound she makes and my heart melts every time. She's growing so fast!

    9.   Coffee crumble ice cream. Yummy!

    10. Burning Bath and Body Works aromatherapy candle. I have the stress reliever in a jar and I am quite sad that I burned the last one already. Where can I get BBW candles here in Manila? I don't want to pay for expensive shipping if I order from the US again. Please let me know.

That sums up my happy list this week. Do you list down things that made you happy too? Do share, I would love to know.

THE SUNDAY CURRENTLY: DON'T THEY KNOW IT'S CHRISTMAS

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone's safe and dry. It

I'm sorry for not posting last Sunday. I was extremely lethargic and didn't have the drive to update my blog. I just slept whenever I wasn't busy with household chores. But I am back and here's my Sunday currently...

    I am currently...

reading Summer's baby book as filled out by her pedia. I've created a Numbers worksheet that I maintain every time there's a new entry in her baby book. So far her growth is normal (height, weight, head circumference) but her skills are advanced - definitely music to mommy's ears.

writing this blog post and another one for my mommy blog.

listening to Christmas carols. I'm such in a festive mood!

thinking of updating my budget worksheet for 2016. I have been lazy in updating it this year but since I am a full-time mommy now, I aim to be more diligent in maintaining it next year. I guess this one's going to be part of my new year's resolution.

smelling Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse. I love it!

wishing that Globe will announce the winners for the Blog/Instagram #Wonderful contest soon. They're 20 days delayed in announcing the winners already. I'm still hoping that I'm going to be one of the winners of roundtrip tickets to New Zealand. Crossing fingers!

hoping to buy a new point and shoot camera to use in recording some home videos (my old camera had a lens error and won't retract anymore). I am not sure if I would enter the world of vlogging at some point but it's something I am considering to do especially because I wanted to update our family in Denmark about the going's on of our lives here in the Philippines.

wearing my Sunday dress still. After I publish this post, I will run my bath and change to a more comfortable PJ's set.

loving the extra festive mood at the Powerplant Mall in Rockwell. If you have kids (maybe 2 years old and above), bring them to the atrium just outside Zara and have them leave their wishes for Santa. The mall might grant their wishes. Summer is not yet eligible because she can't articulate her wishes yet so I and her daddy will be her Santa this year.

wanting to organize my make-up. I've been buying lipsticks almost every week and I need to organize so I can properly note what I have now. I guess I need to self-impose a shopping ban.

needing to wrap products for delivery tomorrow.

feeling so excited. We're counting down the days until hubby comes home again.

clicking through my mailbox. I seriously need to read and respond as soon as possible.

MISS UNIVERSE 2015 RESULTS CARD DESIGN

    0
I posted links to the live streaming of the Miss Universe 2015 pageant night and my social media feeds is still hot with all the opinions and video clips about the event. I would consider it as one of the most controversial and probably the reason for some people, especially Miss Colombia, to be scarred for life. You see, Miss Colombia was announced as the winner of the pageant and was given the sash, the bouquet and the $300,000 DIC crown and was already basking in the glory of her winning above all the other 79 contestants only to be told that she wasn't the winner. Miss Philippines, under a state of shock and disbelief, was then declared as the rightful winner.
MISS UNIVERSE 2015 Final 3: USA, Colombia and Philippines
This blog post will not be tackling the whole drama that shook the pageant world though, I would like to blog about the design of the results card which I think was the reason why Steve Harvey misread (if this is isn't at all just a publicity stunt) and announced the winner incorrectly.

Here's a quick look at the design of the results card (which can be improved in so many ways more than one):

My first impression when I saw the card flashed on screen were:

    • I'm not sure what the significance of 3 TO 1 was. Maybe 3rd place to 1st place? Then again you will see 2nd runner up and so on so it may not be that.
    • Too much white space - this is not a book or a minimalistic blog or a post card.
    • The Miss Universe 2015 placement looked like a footer for the page. - looked like the space was meant to be someone eliminated (trash bin).
    • Font is too small for someone to read in a very well-lighted stage. The font sizes are all over the place as well.
    • Overall, the document looked so elementary and not well thought of.

Here's my take on how the card should have looked like for better use:

As the results card is something that is new for the pageant host, he should have been briefed beforehand who lost and who won before announcing the rightful winner. Or better yet, just have two hosts - after all two heads are better than one. Although this doesn't really apply to contests that only look for the most #confidentlybeautiful contestant.

At the end of the day, design matters! Function and form of the design should go hand-in-hand in a document/material as important as this. Let me know what you think.

My heartfelt congratulations goes out to Miss Philippines for being adjudged as the new Miss Universe. She may be robbed of her crowning moment but she has the whole year to relish her dream come true. She deserves the title and the crown this I dare say no doubt!
This design I really like. Maybe they could give the host 3 cards next time and each card would look like this - complete with the contestants name and picture as well as country. Yeah?
NOTE: Fonts used in the suggested design can be found here

Merry Christmas and welcome to another round of Friday's 10 Happy Things where I jot down ten things that made me happy this week. Keeping this list gets easier every week.

“It's not what's under the Christmas tree that matter, it's who's around it. ”

Here's my happy things this week:

    1. Despite not being home for Christmas this year, my husband made it a point to greet me and Summer. He will celebrate Christmas inside their ship (Nord Sustainable) in Fiji. Just a little over one month left and we will be complete again. I'm thankful that I am married to the most understanding and most hardworking man I know and that I am a mommy to my adorable little darling.

    2. Summer developed fever early this week probably because she's growing a tooth. It was a succession of sleepless night but I am thankful because we were both able to survive it. It's a little nerve wracking for a newbie mom like me to experience this. If only I can take the pain away from her. I'm just happy that it's all over and I am more knowledgeable on how to deal with the same scenario next time because I am sure this won't be the last time.

    3. Burning fresh garden essential oil. It's a cheaper alternative to the usual candle in a glass.

    4. Discovered that we have Travel Channel subscription. I didn't know we have it for the longest time.

    5.   Receiving heartwarming feedback from my online store clients. Oh and the way, we recently offered same day shipping to anywhere in Metro Manila and I am so glad with the reception. Such a blessing!

    6.   FREE design goodies. I will always be thankful for the chance to download for free. Yay!
    7.   MAC Rebel - my go to holiday lippie.

    8.   I have a new hair color and I am loving it. Best part - it's DIY so it came really cheap. I just bought the boxed hair color from Revlon.

    9.   Surprise gifts from neighbors. I sincerely appreciate the thoughtfulness.

    10. We finally decided on the theme for Summer's first birthday and planning is now in full swing. Here's a sneak peek:

That sums up my happy list this week. Do you list down things that made you happy too? Do share, I would love to know.

    Happy Sunday!

Wow! It's the last Sunday of 2015 and it'll be 2016 before we know it. How fast time flies really!

    I am currently...

reading the product inserts of Summer's vitamins. I like reading product labels too. Does that sound weird?

writing this blog post and checks to issue for 2016. Oh and yes, scribbling 2016 over and over and over again so I won't write 2015.

listening to Quiet Weekend playlist on Spotify.

thinking of coloring my hair a shade lighter before we ring in the new year.

smelling the neighbour's dinner. I think they're having "paksiw". Paksiw is a Filipino dish where fish, meat or vegetables are cooked in vinegar.

wishing that I'd be able to finish all the things that I want to DIY for Summer's first birthday. I'm done with the invitation so far so I can't wait to start on the cupcake toppers and decor plan next week. I've also managed to contact a supplier for grass skirts. Yay!

hoping to blog about my growing lipstick stash this coming week.

wearing an orange dress. So comfy!

loving the leche flan that my sister sent. It's not too sweet.

wanting to clean the fridge but I have been procrastinating. I might do it tomorrow.

needing to finish the template for my 2016 budget.

feeling so excited for the new year's day fireworks.

clicking through kiddie party blogs and Pinterest. I need more inspiration.

    GOODBYE 2015, HELLO 2016

    $

I can't believe I am writing my last post for the year. I can still vividly remember what I was doing about the same time last year. Overall, 2015 was a good year for me. For one, being a mother is no doubt life-changing. Two, giving up my career to be with my daughter is no easy feat. I never thought I could do it but I did and I am happy to say that as 2015 draws to a close I feel no tinge of regrets. I am happy with my new role and I look forward for what the new year will bring - to me and to my family.

    JANUARY/FEBRUARY/MARCH
We officially welcomed our baby daughter, Viktoria Summer, to the world. I had a different name choice for her but my husband swayed me into agreeing to his choice. I'm glad I did. Adjusting to a different routine including sleepless nights, caring for another human being, changing perspectives and plans, and basically just being more responsible in everything I do is no mean feat. Don't get me wrong though because I love every minute and every second of being a mother to my little daughter. I feel like I have more reason to live. I feel more positive and more determined to raise her in the best way I know how. I may not be perfect but I will put forth my best effort all the time.

A few days before I gave birth, we also signed the deal to purchase a property and pretty soon we will start the construction of our dream home.
    APRIL/MAY/JUNE
After weighing all the pros and cons if I should give up my career and be a full-time mom to my daughter, I submitted my irrevocable resignation to my manager which took effect after the last day of my maternity leave. It took countless conversations with my husband and I  until we came up with a very life-changing decision. In all honesty it was an easy decision but we had to consider our financial capacity because we just invested on a properly earlier this year and then I gave birth and we spent quite a bit for my pregnancy and delivery.

Looking back, I can say that we made the best decision. Although, we lost quite a chunk (financial aspect) from my salary, I was eventually able to work on digital design and start my organic bath and body products business and earn while being at home and at the same time focus on my daughter.

I celebrated my first ever Mother's Day this year. I may have given-up my career but at least I can say that I have achieved my self-actualization. Yes, I have long considered being a mother as my self-actualization and I have zero regrets. Instead, I have doubled up my capacity to love and I know I will never be the same again.

    JULY/AUGUST/SEPTEMBER
The third quarter of the year was spent mostly in Denmark (with trips in Sweden and Germany). It was the very first long haul flight of our dear darling daughter and I was impressed. She's a trooper! It wasn't as difficult as I have read from other long haul flight chronicles of other mothers online. It was a wonderful feeling that Summer was able to visit her Danish family.

You can read more about our trip to Denmark HERE. I'm hoping to write about the rest of our trip early next year. You may also head on over to my Instagram to see photos from our trip.

    OCTOBER/NOVEMBER/DECEMBER
After spending almost three months in Denmark, we had to travel back to the Philippines where we are currently based. It was an uneventful flight with the little one again and we also had a spare seat in our row so we had her take a sit and watch cartoons using the in-flight entertainment of Emirates. She also received so much goodies from Emirates during this flight (Dr. Seuss book, fleece blanket, flight buddy toys and a knapsack). Oh and the best thing was the porcelain and china I bought from Denmark survived the long flight and longer layover in Dubai. Yay! I'm officially a mother of all packers!

I also started a new blog: http://nanaynisummer.blogspot.com. Please visit when you have time.

Before a new chapter is begun, the old one has to be finished: tell yourself that what has passed will never come back. Remember that there was a time when you could live without that thing or that person – nothing is irreplaceable, a habit is not a need. This may sound so obvious, it may even be difficult, but it is very important. Closing cycles. Not because of pride, incapacity or arrogance, but simply because that no longer fits your life. Shut the door, change the record, clean the house, shake off the dust. Stop being who you were, and change into who you are.
    -PAOLO COELHO
So yes, goodbye 2015 - you have been so good to me and my family. To all my dearest blog readers, thank you so much for sticking with me even during times that I don't have any content to upload. I am so grateful for all the opportunities, all the learning, and all the adventures that I have experienced with my family.

    Hello 2016! Cheers!

    Happy New Year!

Thank you for visiting my blog today and making my online space a part of your day. It's the first Sunday of the month and I am so excited to start the year and work on my goals.

    I am currently...

reading a blog post about how much Youtubers get paid. It's pretty interesting. I am not looking at starting a vlog anytime soon but who knows. I haven't bought a smaller camera yet after the old one conked on me. I can't imagine using my Nikon D7000 to the Fujifilm X-A2 or the Canon G3X. Any suggestions?

writing my budget category for 2016. I've started the Numbers template last year but I have not finalized the categories yet. I'm hoping to finish it as soon as possible so I can finally get down to tracking our daily expenses.

listening to The Sweet Suite playlist on Spotify. So sad to hear that Natalie Cole has died. She's got amazing ballads for sure. My #1 favorite is her song Inseparable. Always gets me in a good mood all the time.

thinking of having a garage sale. I just have too much stuff and I want to purge. I need to free up some closet space.

smelling my daughter's Mini Melissa shoes. The smell is really addicting.

wishing that I'd be able to lose a little bit of holiday weight before my husband comes home this month. His 3-month stint in Nord Sustainable is about to end. I like their route this time (US-Asia-Pacific Islands).

Oh by the way, here's a FREE printable for you. DOWNLOAD HERE

hoping to organize my files so I can free up some space in my external hard drive. I know and I am almost 100% sure that I have quite a few duplicate files saved.

wearing a white sundress and a messy high bun. I need to shower in a bit and prep for church service.

loving the fresh flowers in my vase. I added liquid bleach in the water and I think it's effective. The flowers are still in good condition after almost 4 days.

wanting to store my baby's small clothes in a vacuum-sealed package to save space. She has outgrown so much clothes. I might give some away or maybe sell or just store for future use.

needing to finish this blog post and shower and prep to go to church. The little one in napping now after her morning shower and I gotta hustle before she wakes up.

feeling a little bit of pain on my wrist because I accidentally stabbed it with the tines of a fork. Ouch!

clicking through nothing important. I'm glad I am almost done with this blog post so I can start getting ready and go to church.

It's time for The Sunday Currently again and I couldn't be any happier to update my blog again. I have been too preoccupied with so many things that's why I kind of neglected my blog for a bit - a good three weeks to be exact. I have been too busy juggling my mommy duties as well as launching my new design shop. I have launched the shop in Instagram and Facebook as of this writing. I'll talk more about my little endeavor in a blog post one of these days.

    I am currently...

reading a tutorial on how to efficiently work with watercolor styles in Photoshop. I know the basic application and I want to learn mixing colors with just a few button clicks.

writing nothing. I'm not into writing mood lately.

listening to Hi-5 while my daughter watches the show.

thinking of opening up an Etsy store as well for my design shop.

smelling the tamarind candy that I am snacking on.

wishing to finish everything in my to-do list next week.

Here's another FREE printable for you - February calendar. DOWNLOAD HERE

hoping to finish all the orders placed this week so I will have enough time to source all the decors that I need to bring to the province.

wearing a blue dress and my usual messy bun.

loving the extra time that I have now that hubby is home.

wanting to start planning our itinerary for our trip to Denmark this year. We purchased tickets last week and I couldn't wait to back to Europe again.

needing to finalize the guest list for Summer's first birthday.

feeling happy and excited for the launch of my new online shop.

I love anything pretty especially perfectly styled photos but I don't have much time to collect props and so I couldn't be bothered scouting for pretty knick knacks. I also don't have very good natural lighting at home. I would much rather browse endlessly looking for beautifully-designed photos that I can use in my Instagram and my blog.

    FRIDAY'S 10 HAPPY THINGS 25

    $

January is almost over and February is about to roll in and I couldn't be any more excited than I am because it'll be my first anniversary as a mom. Too many changes have since happened in my life and I plan to write about in another blog post but for now let me share to you my 10 happy things this week.

“All those cliches, those things you hear about having a baby and motherhood - all of them are true. And all of them are the most beautiful things you will ever experience. ”
    -Penelope Cruz

Here's my happy things this week:

    1.   The hubs was asked by the Philippine Airlines boarding gate representative in Tokyo to purchase a ticket to fly out of the Philippines. Although he was clueless as to why he has to have one since he wasn't really sure when he would fly out yet. He forked off almost 60,000 yen for a one-way ticket from the Philippines to Hong Kong. That's a lot! I guess the ticket as required by the Philippine Immigration law is to ensure that no foreigner overstays and violates their visit visa. Good thing it was a fully refundable ticket and we were able to after paying almost 4,000 yen.

NOTE: He was never required by any other airlines to have an outgoing ticket (going out of the Philippines) before on any of his trips. However, I think the Immigration officers at the airport sometimes looks for it. Anyway, for all non-Philippine passport holders who reads my blog who plans to travel here aboard Philippine Airlines, please make sure that you have an ongoing ticket to avoid the hassle and the stress and the amount that you have to shell out.

Then again, all is well that ends well.

    2.   We processed Christian's request to extend his visit visa for another month from the Bureau of Immigration Makati office and we paid Php3,130 for it. One thousand of that amount was for "express lane free and express lane fee (certification)". The reason why I don't understand is because it's not really "express service". We arrive in the office at 7 o'clock, wait for the office to finally start with the process at 8 o'clock, Wait for at least an hour to submit the documents and pay and then asked to come back after 2-3 hours. Express for me is within an hour or two without being asked to come back.

I've never really understood what that fee was for until yesterday. The guard heard me and another woman talking about it and he not being a part of our conversation joined and said the express lane fee was for the salary of the contractual employees of the immigration office. So yes, aside from the tax that we pay, each of the foreigners who wants to extend their visa pays for the salary of some of the employees as well - Php1000 for every transaction. It may not be much but I guess our government should try to be transparent and be truthful to what they charge foreign nationals because c'mon express should be express and express means fast and/or efficient.

If anyone from the Bureau of Immigration reads this, I and my husband would like to be further enlightened what the express lane fee is really for.

    3.   I have finally launched KT Paper Designs in Instagram and Facebook. I offer invitation card design for any occasion, logo/monogram and branding design as well as media kits and many more. Joining Easy and Creative Market is in the works while I build my portfolio. mention freebie page and blog shop, pouring orders

    4.   Chatime Pearl Milk Tea 50% sugar, less ice with extra pearl and coffee jelly - my new favorite drink and all for only Php135. Starbucks who?

    5.  Nap time with my little one. I just love that moment when she snuggles close to me and holds my hand. Priceless!

    6.   FREE design goodies. I will always be thankful for the chance to download for free. Yay! You have until Sunday to download the following free goodies and then wait for Monday again for the next six free goodies to be published.

    7.   L'Oreal Glamor Fuchsia - this is my favorite lip shade this month. I can't do full-on make up anymore so a tube of lipstick is a saving grace.

    8.   Freshly-baked bread - hubby bakes bread and I love it!

    9.   Owning my current favorite premium font - Cantoni Pro. This font is very charming and very appropriate for weddings.

    10. My new blog header. Look! I love how simple it is. It's just me and my little family.

That sums up my happy list this week. Do you list down things that made you happy too? Do share, I would love to know.

    VIKTORIA SUMMER'S HAWAIIAN PARTY

Summer turned one year old last week and we threw a party for her in our province where we know a number of kids from our church and relatives. We decided to celebrate it there so I also have some help in decorating the venue since we decided to DIY most of the details. That is also the main reason why I haven't updated my blog. Yes, DIY is not at all easy peasy because it will take so much of your time albeit really enjoyable and when you see the fruits of your labor you will really feel that you have achieved something.

We sent out Summer's birthday invitation a few weeks up to a week before the scheduled date. I personally designed the invitation and the monogram and printed by Design and Letters. When the invitation cards were printed, I sent it to my sister and requested her to distribute to our invited guests. I also sent out digital invites for some of the guests.

We went for a tropical paradise feel and we sourced out all the decors locally. My brother-in-law made the swing and the crates and he also sourced the birds of paradise and cadena de amor vines. We bought the pineapples and coconuts from the town market. We were lucky that the pineapples came in different sizes and very cheap as well since we are very near the pineapple plantations. Would you believe one pineapple was only Php30 (less than a dollar)?

The cake and the cupcakes were baked by two of my grade school classmates. Every decor on the cake was edible and the cake was scrumptious. It sure took centerstage and every guest were in awe and took a picture of it.

There are more pictures to share but most are still unedited like some of the pictures above. I just grabbed some shared pictures from Facebook and decided to write a blog post before the memories become stale. I will update this post with more pictures once I have time to edit.

To our little Viktoria Summer who's growing up so fast (I can't almost keep up), know that you are our biggest blessing and I wanna thank you for making motherhood a tad bit easier for me. We both grew together this past year and your birth changed our lives in so many ways. Although I have lost count how many diapers you have used, I will never forget each and every single memory that we make together. I never regret a day spent with you.  You are bigger than life my lille smuk pige. You are every bit my source of happiness and inspiration. Your giggle is enough to make my day. Your laugh is a sure delight. You are a ball of energy and one smart cookie. Daddy and mommy loves you and will always be there for you.

    Happy 1st birthday, little darling!

It's time for The Sunday Currently again and today is valentines day. We don't have any big plans as of the moment but my sister suggested that we have dinner in a restaurant. I'm not sure if I am keen on going out but let's see how things go before the day ends.

    I am currently...

reading the label of the aromatherapy oil that my mom swears by. I've tried it on my dry skin and it seems to work. I'll continue to use it and hopefully my dry skin patches recovers.

writing titles for my blog posts for the remaining days of the quarter. I find it a little difficult to stay on schedule sometimes. #bloggerproblems

listening to the Finger Family Song on repeat. It's my daughter's current favorite song. She likes loves it.

thinking of selling my daughter's preloved clothes but my sister is discouraging me because we might have another baby girl in the family in the future.

smelling the lechon paksiw (roasted pork leftovers cooked with vinegar and other spices) that my dad is cooking for lunch. Yum yum!

wishing to visit my grandma (mom's side) before we go back to Manila on Wednesday. We lost our grandpa last year and I wasn't able to go home to attend his funeral and I know how difficult it is for my grandma to live alone.

    http://creativemarket.com?u=ktnielsen

hoping to decide pronto whether to cut my hair or not. I'm kind of torn until now. I want to keep my long locks but my hair fall is bothering me so much.

wearing a dress and a messy chignon.

loving hubby's valentine's day surprise. He gave me a can of hot and spicy tuna because he said I will forever be hot and spicy for him. Hahaha! Of course, he didn't forget the roses and chocolates.

wanting to hydrate more. My current goal is to drink at least 4 liters of water daily but so far I am unsuccessful. I've read somewhere that it is one way to shed some pounds so I am trying it because it seems easy enough.

needing to update my expense tracker. I have to make it a habit so I can manage our finances better. I also feel the need to reunite with my calligraphy tools before my hand muscles forget the strokes.

feeling so much love. I feel so lucky that I married my husband and of course I am such a lucky mom to Summer as well.

clicking through the blogs I follow. I am planning to write a blog post and feature at least 5 and share to you, my dear readers.

THE SUNDAY CURRENTLY: OF NEW THINGS AND FUTURE PLANS

It's the first Sunday since we got back from our short trip to my hometown to celebrate Summer's first birthday. The husband left for Denmark yesterday for some work-related trainings and will be back again in a couple of weeks until he gets his new ship assignment. Our house seems incompleted without him but as it is life has to move on. I guess we all just need to get use to this set-up until he decides to retire from sailing the seven seas.

    I am currently...

reading the VFS website again because my uncle will be travelling with us to Denmark and it will be his first time to apply for a Schengen visa. I promised to send him a step-by-step guide so he can accomplish his documents before we lodge our application. I am quite sure that my visa will be approved because this will be the third time that I will apply but of course I can't be too sure.

writing client information in the waybill forms for the items that I will have the courier pick up tomorrow.

listening to the #PiliPinasDebates2016. It was more like a talk show than a debate though.

thinking of investing in a mutual fund but I am scared of the economic risk especially that the national election is just around the corner. Maybe I will wait it out until the election is over.

smelling the scent of my lounge dress washed with fabric conditioner. LOL!

wishing to finish the wedding invitation that I am currently working on. It's black and white with bouquets of peony. I'm loving this project a lot. CHECK IT OUT HERE

    http://creativemarket.com?u=ktnielsen

hoping to attend the #Blogopolis4D next week. I sure do hope so. I hope I can bring Summer to the event so I don't have to worry who will take care of her in case I decide to leave her at home.

    wearing my ultra-comfortable house dress.

loving the newly released products of The Happy Organics. #NEWIN

wanting to continue with my "hydration challenge" which I mentioned last week. I've only reached my goal twice this week and I hope I improve next week. Way to go!

needing to organize my design files because I sometimes take a little bit of time searching for a specific file.

feeling so excited to attend the Write Blissfully workshop organized by Martine De Luna.

clicking through blogs to get some inspiration for the future content of this blog and the new one that I am setting up for Wordpress. I will share the link soon. I still haven't decided if I will move to just one blog or maintain both though.

    I FOUND IT ON GALLEON.PH

    $

    0

Disclosure: This is my entry to the Nuffnang PH and Galleon.PH "I Found It On Galleon.PH" blog contest. As usual, all thoughts and opinions as well as suggestions mentioned in this post are entirely my own and were not influenced by any of the brands mentioned. I was not paid to post this blog but I have the opportunity to win a prize at the end of the competition.

"I found it on GALLEON.PH!" Have you ever squealed in delight after finding a product that you really wanted to buy online? It's like you won a lottery or would maybe even feel like your favorite pair of pants fits you again. It's borderline euphoric - you could even jump for joy. I bet online shop patrons like me can relate. We are lucky now that we have Galleon.PH in the Philippines to cater to our shopping needs - from the warehouse shelves straight to our doorsteps.

I particularly love online shopping because I am able to shop at the comforts of my home. There are several online shops now here in the Philippines but a lot of my favorite shops and brands are available only in the US. However, spending for international shipping and taxes (and other fees) as well as having to pay customs duties would really put a dent in one's wallet. What a bummer right?

Have you ever browsed through your Pinterest or Instagram feed and really liked a particular product only to be disappointed because it is not available in the Philippines yet? Yes, yes, I know that feeling and it's really heartbreaking sometimes. There are times that I would just stare at the cart and wish that the US is just a hop and skip away. Wishful thinking!

    1.  PABILI

Have you heard stories about people asking family or friends who are travelling to the United States to buy them a slew of different products that are not readily available in any store here in the Philippines? I have! In the same way as balikbayans or OFW's fill a balikbayan box with items that could not be bought here as well. Yes, stories like these are part of our culture and has been quite a norm even before the dawn of the internet.

I have personally tried asking a friend to buy me some items from the US because the prices are too good to pass up and I could not find the item in any mall or online store here no matter how hard I try. The thing is I can't always do this and sometimes I resort to not asking someone to buy for me because it could be burdensome to the traveler.

    2. PASABAY

Another option to buy that much coveted little black dress from a boutique in New York City without breaking the bank to fork off money for a plane ticket is to ask your friends to buy items from other US stores as well so you share the shipping fees. Brilliant idea right? I have tried this option as well and I agree that it is indeed brilliant. What are friends for right? It's a modern day version of "carpooling" and shopping in a physical store.

    3. PANGARAP

When "pabili" and "pasabay" is not your cup of tea then I guess you are stuck with "pangarap". Awwww! How sad? The items will forever be in your wishlist and your cart waiting for you to press the check-out button. Correct? NO! Your wishlist can now be real items. Gone are the days when you have to "pabili" and "pasabay" because now you can shop with just your smartphone or computer.

Start to practice exclaiming at the top of your lungs ladies and gentlemen...

Are you wondering what are the TOP 3 products NOT in the Philippines that I wish to buy in Galleon.PH? I kid you not I have a long list but for now these three items will suffice.

TOP 3 PRODUCTS THAT I WISH TO BUY

ITEM 1: Cricut Explore Air Wireless Electronic Cutting Machine Bundle

Since I have accepted orders for invitation cards and other paper items for my little business, I find myself wishing and wanting to have my own cutting machine. This is a perfect electronic cutting machine for all my DIY crafts and projects. This bundle is truly a crafter's dream. I can almost imagine that when I will be asked where I got my cutting machine I would simply say "I found it on Galleon.PH!"

ITEM 2: HP Officejet Pro 8610 Wireless Color Photo Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax

I visited the HP store last week and I did not find this on the display. I'm not sure if it's out of stock or not yet released here in the Philippines but I am over the moon when I found this in the Galleon.PH website. It being wireless is a big plus in my book.

ITEM 3: American Crafts Heidi Swapp Minc Foil Applicator with Transfer Folder, Foil, and Art Prints

I've fallen in love with foil prints and to finally own this foil applicator would be almost like a dream come true. I would love to have this as I grow KT Paper Designs. This will be my partner in expanding my home-based business. Just saying that feels so surreal! I'm glad I found it in Galleon.PH indeed!

There are several products currently posted in the website divided in different categories. Visit the site to read more or just click that button below and start shipping. Because? Why not! Shopping is so much fun anyway. Haha! Seriously, the click button is waiting...

What do you think of my list? I actually have a longer list but I don't want to bore you with it so why don't you create your list as well and order the items that you really wanted to have from Galleon.PH. If that's not enough to convince you, here are the wonderful features of this heaven-sent e-commerce platform.

GALLEON.PH Features and Social Media Links

      • Ships nationwide and delivers via air (6-12 business days) and sea (35-40) business days.

      • Has efficient customer care. With that, buying and shipping of items not on their website can be requested.

    -Mahatma Gandhi

Here are my happy things this week:

    1.   Steady stream of design work for KT Paper Designs. I'm loving it!

    2.   I paid $1 for a year's webhosting and Wordpress.org set-up. Yes, only a dollar! Blogelina's $1 Blog Set-Up I will be launching the blog soon maybe in a month or two. I plan to have enough content in the blog (somewhere between 10-15 posts) before launching it so it won't look rushed. I'm still in the process of fixing the different pages, installing plug-ins as well as tweaking a little bit of the theme. I'm still getting used to the Wordpress interface and I think I know a bit why most of the bloggers I know choose the platform.

    3.   My blog header has been updated again. If you are reading this and you want your blog header or logo updated, please let me know. I'll be more than happy to work with you.

    4.   Mini Melissa shoes. I don't plan to hoard but looks like the little one will have more shoes than me soon. Haha!

    5.  We met up with our architect and contractor and looks like we will start with the construction of our house before the year ends or early next year. We will finally be homeowners!

    6.   I was able to secure a slot in a blog workshop organized by Martine De Luna of Make It Blissful. I'm looking forward to it.

    7.   Netflix! I love watching documentaries about chefs and cooking and murders. Odd!

    8.   I discovered another website the offers design bundles. If you love fonts and illustrations and basically anything about design, check out Dealjumbo. If you sign-up for their newsletter, you will get free design items in every newsletter as well. So much win!

    9.   I now have an organized desktop. DOWNLOAD my organizer for free (size: 1280px x800px)

    10. Summer learned a very endearing action this week. When you say "Hay naku!" she will put her palm on her cheek and tilt her head a little bit. Ahhh, this little kid is something. I love her to bits!

That sums up my happy list this week. Do you list down things that made you happy too? Do share, I would love to know.

HELLO MARCH PLEASE BE GOOD TO ME

    $
    0
    0
It's been awhile since I posted an entry welcoming the new month. I feel inspired to write one now because I am in the mood for goal setting again. I remember I started to document my monthly goals in this blog last year but I quickly went back to just using my planner. This year, I have not bought a single planner (highly unlikely but I really didn't get one purposely). I plan to utilize my computer and my phone for all it's worth.

February was quick. I spent most of the first 2 weeks preparing for Summer's 1st birthday. I'm glad that it's over and that it was a success. It wasn't grand but it was a day full of memories that we could all look back to. I'm not sure if Summer will curse me one day for letting her wear a pineapple costume.

I ended February with a rather heavy heart because I was blocked by a person in Instagram who ordered several items from me. I bought all the items in Denmark and I especially took care of her items. She used to respond to my messages until late January when she just started to disregard and not mind me. When I checked her profile again a couple of days ago, I was already blocked, so was my online store and my daughter's Instagram account. So rude! She could have just told me "Thank you for buying all those items for me. I was only joking when I asked you to buy. I really did not have any intention of paying all of those. I don't care if you hand carried all those items from Copenhagen to Manila." But she didn't! Her audacity is appalling. I was livid but I am feeling a little bit better now. I waited for more than 4 months for nothing. To get even, I posted her IG profile info in my feed so my followers can at least see how disrespectful she was for wasting my time and effort. The money I can always earn back but my time and effort are forever gone. She's a persona non grata in my book already. If she ever gets to read this I want her to know that she may be rich but she can never buy integrity. That said, I really appreciate the empathy from some of my blog followers. Case closed!

My main goal this month is to manage my time to avoid getting burned out or spreading myself too thin. Yes, I still spend all-nighters sometimes and most of the time I go to bed a little too late - 2AM or 3AM and wake up at 8AM. I'm not getting enough sleep and it's never a good practice to deprive one's self of rest.

Here are my goals this month:

    — Organize my computer desktop. Arrange files and folders - alphabetical order. I created a wallpaper with spaces to categorize files/folders in different boxes (files/archive, personal, business, pending tasks/WIP, and miscellaneous). I like it and I am going to fine tune the document so I can share it as a freebie.

    — Review the VFS website and take note of visa application process. We're scheduled to fly to Denmark again and a relative will be traveling with us so I have to prepare my own documents and help him organize his requirements as well.

    — Create a pricing document for KT Paper Designs so I don't have to manually type in my answers when I get inquiries for my services.

    — Revise the product and price list for Excellent Organics. We've recently launched new products (Grapefruit Shower Gel, Grapefruit Body Butter, Raw African Shea Butter Ultra Moisturizing Soap, Germ Buster Sanitizer Spray, Underarm Whitening Tonique and Healing Balm). I've tried using the soap and body butter and so far I am loving it.  Let me know if you are interested in trying any of our products. We currently have more than 40 different kinds of organic products for bath and body.

    — Attend the blogging workshop I signed up for. I'm glad the hubby will be home again this weekend so he can stay with Summer on the day of the workshop midmonth.

    — Install all the plugins I need for the Wordpress blog that I am going to launch soon. I'm so excited about this project. I will share the blog link when the blog is ready to be shown.

    — Drink at least 2 liters of water every day. I tried 4 liters but I didn't enjoy the several trips to the bathroom. It just takes so much of my time.

    — Delete apps installed in my phone that I rarely use. Delete unnecessary files that I saved in my laptop. I need to free up some space in my life.

    — Drink my collagen supplement as advised - once a day. Even if I don't like the taste so much and the only way I could drink it is when I mix it with coffee. I've noticed a very good change in my skin especially when I wake up in the morning.

    — Allot more play time with Summer. Bring her to Gymboree at least once a week so she can develop her social skills.

I hope I would be able to accomplish everything on my list. I'll revisit this list at the end of the month so I can update you guys. Do you also keep track of your goals? What is your main goal for the month of March? If you blogged about your goals and you want me to visit your post, please feel free to leave the link in the comments box below.

Oh and yes, you may download a printable copy of the March 2016 calendar at the free printables section below (blog footer).

Cheers to March! May we all be showered with an abundance of blessings.
