I always feel happy when there is a declared holiday and I look forward to reporting to work when it's a holiday. It is not because I earn holiday pay (I don't in fact) but because I earn an additional time off which I can use within 3 months after the declared holiday. That means I can use it when I really need it. I also like working on holidays because roads are a lot less busy. Can you imagine the picture?
This year I have amassed quite a number of additional days in lieu for the holidays that I reported to work. I am able to plan out my vacation dates really well too by referencing the published dates.
