Denmark Diaries 3: Memories of Tivoli

One of the gifts we received on our wedding day was a trip to Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. Copenhagen is a bus and train-ride away from where my husband and I are based in Denmark. I have been looking forward to this trip and my jetlag was probably the only reason why it didn't keep me up at nights in anticipation. I feel so lucky to visit Tivoli  before it closed (January to April) to prepare for the summer months.

We roamed around the vicinity while waiting for my brother-in-law's family to arrive. Of course, I and my husband took pictures. I already love Copenhagen (with what I have seen thus far). I know I will fall more in-love with it when we explore it some more in the next few days.

Tourist Tip:Some of the yellow buses plying the city offered free wifi. I was not able to test it though as we opted to find our way around the city on foot. You can use this hashtag if you want to share your photos of the city in Instagram - #visitdenmark 


My heart skipped a beat as we crossed this pedestrian lane. Why so?  I can now see the Tivoli sign!


This is the Københavns Rådhus or the Copenhagen City Hall. It is the headquarters of the municipal council and the Lord mayor of the Copenhagen municipality. I like the slim clock towers that juts out of the building.


Everywhere you look, you can see old and new magnificent buildings. I am not sure if these are offices or houses but the ground floor of every building is always a restaurant or a bookstore or a bar. Asia represent!

My brother-in-law's family arrived before 5PM and so we trooped inside Tivoli. There were a lot of people, young and old alike and the place was lit with different kinds of holiday lights. Tivoli has more than a dozen souvenir shops, several restaurants (Italian, Balkan, Mediterranean, Asian, American, etc), rides for all ages, candy shops, beer and glögg shops as well as warm chocolate and other pastry shops. I have seen quite a few Filipinos and other nationalities enjoying Tivoli that night.

All decked with Christmas ornaments and real fir trees - Tivoli was more than ready to welcome the little kid in me. Explore it with me as I relive the moments I have had in Tivoli with my Danish family.

We all went home before midnight with smiles on our faces. Huge thanks to Lars and Stine for gifting us with a trip to Tivoli. They paid for our entrance tickets, ride tickets as well as dinner. It was truly an unforgettable experience and it was made more memorable by enjoying the moments with family.
