I never see real castles in the Philippines so I was extremely amused when we were on vacation in Denmark. Castles were a normal thing apparently and Copenhagen is home to the Rosenborg Castle. It was originally built to serve as a summerhouse in the 1600.
The castle was used by Danish royalty as their residence until around the early 1700s. After the reign of Frederik IV, Rosenborg castle was used as a royal residence only in two occasions - both these times were emergency situations (after the Christiansborg Palace burned down in 1794 and during the British attack on Copenhagen in 1801).
The Rosenborg Castle Garden is Denmark's oldest royal garden and was embellished in the Renaissance Style by Christian IV shortly before the construction of the main castle. Today, the gardens are very popular to local and foreign tourists. Different varieties of flowers and trees dot the property. During spring, tulips and other spring bulbs are common to the garden as well.
The Royal Life Guards Barracks is just beside the castle. The Life Guards are tasked to guard the castle. The green patch behind me in the picture below is the ground used for drill exercises of the Royal Life Guards.

We were not able to get inside the castle when we went there because we spent so much time in the garden that we only had a little over an hour to spend inside. The receptionist advised us to come back another day so we can maximize our time inside.
If you want to see the Royal Danish collections of swords and jewels and other artifacts, you have to make sure to include Rosenborg in your Copenhagen itinerary.
