While Christian was on vacation, he got used to singing "Lille Peter Edderkop" to our baby inside my tummy. She would calm down believe it or not. Haha! The song that Christian sings is the Danish/Dansk version of Itsy Bitsy Spider.
Dansk Lyrics
Lille Peter edderkop kravled' op af muren
Så kom regnen og skylled' Peter ned
Så kom solen og tørred' Peters krop
Lille Peter edderkop kravled' atter op.
English Lyrics
The itsy-bitsy spider went up the waterspout
Down came the rain and washed the spider out
Up came the sun and dried up all the rain
And the itsybitsy spider went up the spout again.
Now that he is back sailing again (he joined the tanker just last week in Rotterdam, The Netherlands), he calls me through Skype and sings to baby in the wee hours of the morning (he is on Euro time zone and since I sleep late the timing is just perfect - I probably have pregnancy insomnia!). Truly, mommy and baby are both very lucky to have a husband and daddy who would graciously sing to us before we sleep.
I meant to record his voice while singing to baby when he was here but I totally forgot because I would giggle with glee as he sings. If you are curious how to sing it in Danish, here's a video I found in YouTube and yes, I keep on humming and singing the first line over and over again (yeah, just the first line - I could not pronounce the rest of the Dansk lyrics yet):

Christian is bent on teaching his daughter how to speak Danish so maybe mommy can join the Dansk lessons too. Haha! For now, I can only recite numbers 1 to 10 and I can manage to say a few phrases. I guess I can understand more when listening and when I read but yes for now, I am horrible at spoken Dansk.
