VALENTINES DAY PARTY IDEAS

Last week, I wrote about valentines day gift ideas to give to your husband (or boyfriend) and this week I am dedicating this blog post to all my happily single (or attached) and ready to mingle friends. But really, whether you are in a relationship or not, valentines day is one if not the best excuse to get together with your best buds and celebrate the day - not minding all the love birds around - think a la Sex and the City ladies enjoying a party while downing their favorite cosmopolitan cocktails.

Truth be told, I haven't spent time with my besties and throwing a party would be a great idea and would be loads of fun too. The best part about having it in our home - we can go all out and be extra creative. Today, I am going to share party ideas to inspire you to get your DIY groove on.

1. Gather up for brunch.  The best time to get-together for a ladies only affair is for brunch. It is the best time so even the attached ones will have time to attend. A brunch is also perfect to prepare some easy recipes that everyone would enjoy - think pancakes, bacon-wrapped asparagus, salads, and the list goes on. Add a little bit of bubbly or cups of coffee with a kick of alcohol and you'll be ready for the big date to follow. Fruit and vegetable kebabs  would be a great idea too.

2. DIY your decorations. Adding special touches to your event would be a fun activity to do. Enlist the help of your besties days before the event and let them create their own masterpiece. Pick up the finished decors a day before the party and spruce up your space with all the creative pieces. Let your creative juices flowing I say.

Valentines Day Accent Pillow - for the perfect accent to your comfy couch
Tree Heart Cheap Craft - for that whimsical touch

3. Create a signature party cocktail. What better way to completely enjoy the brunch and keep the conversations and laughter going than to have a delicious cocktail in your hand? C'mon admit it! Enjoying some girl talk and spiked drinks would be a perfect highlight to your valentines day.

Here's a valentines day cocktail recipe to enjoy by Honestly Yum:

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz gin
  • 1/2 oz Amaro Montenegro
  • 1/2 oz Aperol
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz grenadine
  • 1 egg white
  • freshly ground cinnamon for garnish

Grenadine:

  • 1/2 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1/2 cup fine baker’s sugar
  • 1 oz pomegranate molasses

4. Bring on the games! To add a little bit of fun to your besties party, why not have a game of mystery. This idea is inspired by Jillian Harris' blog post. Yep, Jillian famous for her stint at the Bachelorette show and her Love It or List It show. Mechanics of the game: Tell your besties to bring a bottle of wine with the labels covered and then each one takes a sip. Everyone then rates the bottles and the bottle that receives the highest score wins. The host could give a prize for the winning lady! Super fun eh?

Of course, you can't possibly have a party without dressing to the nines so here are a few outfit choices from the new arrival rack of Nicole Miller. From February 8 until February 12, get 10% off sitewide + free shipping when you use code NMVIP10.
