A meal in the world's best restaurant is a far cry from a single plate you get when you order from a fast food joint. On Monday, April 30, 2012, restaurant Noma in Copenhagen, Denmark snagged the top spot on the S. Pellegrino list of The World's 50 Best Restaurants for the third year in a row.
So what's the secret to culinary world domination? 26 Plates! Yes, you read that right. Not one, not two, not even three but 26 plates. Here are a few pictures by
Elyse Pasquale.
Here are a few of the plates that Elyse has tried and that I wanted to try in the future too:

This is not just a simple flower centerpiece. The deer antler looking part is edible and is a malt flatbread dusted with juniper. The red flowers are edible and are stuffed with escargot. |
Shavings of cod liver and thin strips of caramelized milk. |
Steaming quail eggs on a bed of straw. |
This is the DIY part of the meal. You cook your own duck egg for 90 seconds with 3 kinds of aromatic herbs. |
Crispy deer licken dusted with cep mushrooms resting on a bed of brilliant green moss. |
A paper-thin wafer of seeded rye toast and a crisp later of chicken skin form two sides of a creamy, smokey lumpfish roe sandwich. |
