Exploring Lantau Island

We woke up to overcast skies but we were determined to explore Lantau Island (Ngong Ping Cable Cars, Po Lin Monastery, Tian Tan Buddha and of course Disneyland). And mind you, it was the longest train ride I have ever had in my whole life time (in terms of stations and transfers and not time). It wasn't a bore though, I enjoyed the scenery outside (from the skycrapers to the boats in the harbour to the shipyards and the like).

Since we woke up early and had our breakfast near the Jordan MTR station , we decided to not return to TST station anymore. From the Jordan station, we headed to the Central station. We then transferred to the Tung Chung line through the Hong Kong station then went straight to Tung Chung station. Travel time was less than 30 minutes I think. If you want to take a different mode of transportation to Tung Chung, click this LINK. We arrived at the station before 10AM so we decided to take a stroll inside the Citygate Outlets (home to more than 80 international brand names such as Coach, Lancel, Diane Von Furstenbeg, Callaway, Cerruti, Mango, IT, Armani Exchange, Calvin Klein, Club Monaco, Escada, Burberry, Max Mara and a lot more). If I brought lots of shopping money I could have stayed there all day.

We headed towards the Tung Chung Town Centre Cable Car Terminal around 10AM and a long line greeted us. It was a little overcast and humid but excitement got us through.

Originally the site of fishing villages, the island has been developed in recent years with the construction of Tung Chung New Town on its north-western coast and the completion of several major infrastructure projects, including Lantau Link (1997), Hong Kong International Airport (1998), Hong Kong Disneyland (2005) and Ngong Ping 360 (2006). - Wikipedia
