I hosted a dinner with friends last Sunday in my little neck of the woods. I cooked some of the most requested recipes from previous dinner parties at home. I got all my produce from Cash and Carry Supermarket as I did not have time to shop at the weekend market because of the rain.
Watermelon Salad - It is indeed the best summer salad out there. This is Anthropologie's recipe. I just tweaked the recipe a bit because I could not find the red raddish in my neighborhood store. I also removed the oil so the taste is a lot fresher.
Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus - This one is a hit, again! I made this on my birthday and for the second time, it is the first to be wolfed down by my guests. It's very simple to make and the tastiest too.
Cinnamon Chicken - This one is also a big crowd pleaser. The chicken came out tender and delectable. The spice rub I used to coat the chicken did the chicken good to say the least. The tomatoes and the lemon were charred because I put this on the top shelf of the oven. If you want to make this, make sure to put it in the middle part of the oven to avoid the charring.
Cream Dory on a Bed of Lemon - I personally loved this because the fish was delicate and cooked just right. The bell pepper, snow peas and the celery leaves were wonderful addition to this too.
Pork with Banana Blossom and Bell Pepper - I simmered the meat with sparkling soda and barbecue sauce before adding the banana blossom and bell pepper.
The star of the show... - Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting and Fresh Strawberry Topping
"There is only one difference between a long life and a good dinner: that, in the dinner, the sweets come last."
-Robert Louis Stevenson
I am glad that everyone enjoyed the meal. Let me know if you want a copy of the recipe and I will gladly share them to you.
