Christian and I went out to have lunch, do a little bit of shopping for my sister's baby and watch a movie right after I got off work last Saturday. We were supposed to watch Wicked but I was not able to buy tickets for a show. We will probably do that next week end. We have to make good use of the remaining days that we will be together before he goes offshore again. We revel in simple joys, that's just the way we are.
Despite all the negative reviews about the movie "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", we decided to watch it. I have not read reviews in detail, I just read snippets in Twitter and heard some comments from office mates. We gave the movie a chance and we were quite happy we did. The movie was rather light, entertaining and it made us want to pack our bags and travel to Greenland and Iceland.
Your Imagination Is Colorful
Unlike his life and environment washed in different shades of grey, Walter Mitty's imagination is incredibly colorful. His imagination is overactive and almost too real. I am one who daydreams too but not as extreme as he does. I have never dreamed of dropping everything at once and travel with no change of clothes in tow, never dreamed of draining my bank account to do something extraordinary, never dreamed of hiking the tallest mountain in the world, and most of all I have never dreamed of jumping into an ocean full of whales. But I do daydream and I am sure you do too. The movie made me realize that there isn't really any limit to anything. You just have to make sure that when you dream big you also have to learn when to stop dreaming and start living to make all those dreams happen.
The Thin Line Between The Impossible And Possible
The movie made me realize that if you want something to happen, you have to be willing to get your hands dirty and be willing to pull all the stops. Walter Mitty risked losing his job to find negative #25. He didn't know what it was but he did everything he can to look for the photographer and finally find answers to his questions. Some of the scenes in the movie just seemed to jolt me in my euphoria and arouse a need to travel, explore, and discover what's out in my horizon. If you can dream about the possibilities then surely what you are dreaming about is possible. Just go do it!
The movie was good, light, and entertaining. I loved that I caught my husband smiling while we were watching. I asked him why and he said it was because he saw Greenland and Iceland and that we should add it to our travel bucket list.
Have you watched the movie? What scene in the movie inspired you to stop dreaming and start living?
